Upgrade for the Journal of Management Control
Since 2011, the Journal of Management Control (JoMaC) has been managed by Thomas Günther, Professor of Management Control at TU Dresden, and in recent years, jointly with Prof. Frank Verbeeten from the University of Utrecht, Netherlands. In the recently published PMR journal ranking by the German Academic Association for Business Research (VHB), JoMaC was upgraded to Category B.
"This upgrade reflects the very positive international development of our journal over the past 10 years. We are now on par with comparable academic journals in the field of Management Accounting and Control. We hope this will attract more submissions, particularly from German-speaking managment control researchers who are competing in the international publication landscape."
In 2023, JoMaC received 225 submissions, an increase of 76% over the past five years. The submissions came from 53 countries across all parts of the world. Even more remarkable is the rise in the number of article downloads, which reached 243,910 in 2023, a growth of 254% over the five-year period. The journal's impact factor last year stood at 2.1, with a five-year average of 3.0.
This positive development is further confirmed by JoMaC’s 2023 upgrades to an A-journal by the Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) and the Italian Board of Directors of the Accademia Italiana di Economia Aziendale (AIDEA).
