Farewell to Prof. Dr. Eric Schoop on his retirement
As the last member of the first generation after the faculty was founded in 1993, Prof. Dr. Eric Schoop took his well-deserved retirement on April 1, 2025. With his Chair of Business Information Systems, esp. Information Management, he has made a significant contribution to the development of the Faculty of Business and Economics since 1993.
In teaching and research, he provided important impetus for corporate communication and knowledge management as well as the digital transformation of universities. His great commitment to innovative teaching concepts such as eLearning, blended learning and virtual collaborative learning was visionary. The internationalization of teaching was also particularly close to his heart - through virtual mobility and virtual exchange and the associated exchange with universities in Eastern and South-Eastern Europe and Asia. His commitment to students and staff was also outstanding, as evidenced by numerous teaching awards and the successful supervision of 23 doctorates to date.

Eric Schoop was also intensively involved in academic self-administration for many years, as Dean of Studies, in study commissions and Examination Committees, on the selection committee for the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship and for many years as the faculty's e-learning officer.
The Chair of Business Information Systems, in particular Information Management, will not be filled. We are therefore saying goodbye not only to Eric Schoop, but also to his team. The Faculty would like to thank Eric Schoop for his many outstanding achievements and wishes him all the best for the new phase of his life, the best of health and continued enjoyment of new and interesting topics at the Center for Open Digital Innovation and Participation (CODIP).
