Mourning for Prof. Dr. Horst Walter Endriss

It was with great sadness that we received the sad news that Prof. Dr. Horst Walter Endriss passed away on January 9, 2026 at the age of 87 after a long and patiently endured illness. In Horst Walter Endriss, the Faculty of Business and Economics has lost an extremely dedicated and commendable former colleague.

Prof. Dr. Endriss was closely associated with the Faculty of Business and Economics since its foundation. In the winter semester of 1992/93, he began lecturing at the Chair of Business Administration, in particular Auditing and Taxation. In 1997, he was appointed Honorary Professor of Business Administration, in particular External Accounting. He has passed on his expertise as a tax consultant, auditor and long-standing owner of a tax college to thousands of students in numerous courses. With enormous enthusiasm for his subject and immense commitment to the students, he consistently filled the lecture halls of TU Dresden until 2019, provided extensive teaching materials free of charge and achieved top teaching evaluations.

Entire generations of students know Prof. Dr. Endriss not only from the lecture hall, but also from the legendary Endriss parties. Since 2014, Prof. Dr. Endriss has also made a significant contribution to the internationalization of studies. Since then, the Prof. Endriss Prize, which he generously donated, has supported two students every year to study abroad. We are extremely grateful to Prof. Dr. Endriss and are delighted that the prize - financed by his estate - can be awarded for at least another ten years.

The professors, staff and students of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics are deeply grateful to Prof. Dr. Horst Walter Endriss for his extraordinary work at TU Dresden.
