Wissenschaftliches und praktisches Arbeiten (WPA)
Table of contents
This module teaches key qualifications that are important for your studies and career. These include the basics of information research and methods of academic work, as well as presentation, team and project management techniques and software skills with which you can put course content into practice.
General information

Compulsory module in the Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Economics as well as the Diploma in Business Information Systems and Industrial Engineering and Management in the area of "General Qualifications"

Intended for the third (BA Wiwi, D WiInf) or fourth semester (D WiIng)

The module comprises a seminar part (1 SWS) and a project part (1 SWS). Both parts must be completed in one semester. Otherwise, partial achievements already completed will be waived.

Examination performance is a complex performance of 80hours
Enrolment for the WPA module
Registration (please note: NOT exam registration!) takes place via OPAL .
The registration period extends from the end of the lecture-free period to the end of the first week of lectures. The exact periods will be communicated both by e-mail and in the OPAL course.
WPA SEMINAR
In the seminar you will learn the basics of information research and the preparation of scientific papers. These skills and abilities are taught in the individual profiles. A large number of WPA seminar places are available in each profile each semester.
Your preferences, which you can indicate to us in the OPAL course during the registration period, are taken into account when allocating seminar places. You can also view the result of the allocation in the OPAL course after the end of the registration period.
WPA PROJECT
The project provides general and interdisciplinary qualifications that enable you to put the theoretical course content into practice. Numerous projects are offered each semester. Information on the projects offered in the summer and winter semesters can be found in the OPAL course.
For the WPA project, you must complete a total of two projects (PO 2014 - 2017) or one project (PO 2024). Project places are limited. You can register for the project(s) in the OPAL course during the registration period. You can also see whether you have been assigned to the desired project in the OPAL course after the end of the registration period.
Examination and examination registration
The examination comprises a complex performance of 80 hours, consisting of a graded seminar performance and an ungraded project performance.
Examination registration for the complex performance takes place in Selma during the early registration period. Information on the registration deadlines can be found on the website of the Examination Office.
