Simon Kratzer's PhD defense
Simon Kratzer has successfully completed his doctorate in Business Information Systems. His dissertation entitled "The Fractional CIO as a New Form of IT Management for SMEs: Essays on Current Issues and New Developments in IT Executive Management" represents an important contribution to research in the field of IT management.
Simon Kratzer's research, which focuses on the role of the fractional CIO in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), is characterized by practical relevance and scientific depth. The results of his work are published in highly ranked journals. His work includes a comprehensive literature review on the research field of the Chief Information Officer, combined with a research agenda, as well as a comprehensive research framework and concepts on the fractional CIO in practice, which have received attention both in academic journals and at international conferences, including in the journal "Information & Management", which can be regarded as one of the world's eleven leading journals in the field of information systems.

The thesis was reviewed by Prof. Dr. Strahringer and Prof. Dr. Wiener and supervised by Prof. Dr. Westner. The successful cooperation between Prof. Dr. Strahringer and Prof. Westner from OTH Regensburg in the field of business information systems is currently being continued in the context of other ongoing doctoral theses.
