Two research presentations and “Best Paper Runner-Up Awards” at ACIS 2022 in Melbourne (Australia)
The annual Australasian Conference on Information Systems (ACIS) brings together researchers from Australia and Asia – and increasingly from around the world – to present and discuss their latest research in the field of Information Systems (IS). This year's conference was themed "The Changing Face of IS" and held in Melbourne, Australia, December 4-7. Two PhD students from TU Dresden's Business Information Systems (BIS) Group presented their current research at the conference:
Hannes Fischer (BIS, esp. Business Engineering) presented his paper "From Knowing to Data-driven Organizations: Review and Conceptual Framework," which he co-authored with Prof. Dr. Martin Wiener, Prof. Dr. Susanne Strahringer, and Dr. Katja Bley from TU Dresden, as well as Prof. Kotlarsky from the University of Auckland (who is also a Distinguished Research Fellow at the Faculty of Business and Economics of TU Dresden). In this paper, the authors build on the concept of the “knowing organization” to develop a conceptual framework that synthesizes existing understandings of the notion of data-driven organizations in theory and practice. The paper received the ACIS "Best (Full) Paper Runner-Up Award."
Sebastian Käss (BIS, esp. IS in Trade and Industry) presented his research-in-progress paper "Low Code Development Platform Adoption: A Research Model" in the conference track "Agile, IS Development, and Project Management.” The paper investigates factors influencing the adoption of low code development platforms. The derived research model is based on results regarding the adoption of cloud computing and agile software development approaches. The paper also received an award at ACIS: the "Best Runner-Up Award" in the "Research in Progress" category.
The many expert talks and discussions at ACIS resulted in numerous points of contact and promising ideas regarding the further development of the papers presented.
