Review of 3 exciting workshop days in Bayreuth
From July 17 to 19, 2023, the PhD students and professors of the chairs of Information Systems, especially Business Engineering and Information Systems in Industry and Commerce participated in an exciting workshop on current topics in Information Systems in Bayreuth. The workshop was organized and hosted together with PhD students and professors of the TU Darmstadt, respectively the chair for "Information Systems & Electronic Services" (Prof. Dr. Alexander Benlian). A special highlight was special guest Professor Monideepa Tarafdar (Isenberg School of Management, UMass Amherst).
The PhD students gave presentations on their current topics, such as "Algorithmic Control", "Limitation of Social Media Use", "AI Literacy" or "Non-ownership business models in the manufacturing industry".
The participants were particularly pleased with the presentation by Professor Monideepa Tarafdar. She spoke about the do's and don'ts of publishing in leading journals. In addition to the "technical" content, the leisure program in Bayreuth also offered plenty of inspiring variety: following in the footsteps of Richard Wagner, the participants took part in a historical guided tour of Bayreuth and visited the opera.
The participants agree that the workshop days were very instructive and entertaining. They gained many new insights and were able to exchange ideas with other PhD students. Here are some feedbacks from the participants:
"The presentations were very interesting and informative. I learned a lot of new things."
"The discussions with the other PhD students were very enriching. I was able to make many new contacts."
"The leisure program was very varied and entertaining. I enjoyed the time in Bayreuth very much."
We are already looking forward to the next workshop days and thank the organizers very much.
