Paper Presentation at WI 2025 in Münster
The 20th International Conference Wirtschaftsinformatik (WI) took place this year at the University of Münster.
Felix Hirsch attended the conference on behalf of the WIBE chair and presented his paper: “Algorithmic Control in Non-Platform Organizations - Workers' Legitimacy Judgments and the Impact of Individual Character Traits,” which was published as part of the DFG project AlgoWork.
The paper deals with the use of advanced algorithms for managing and steering workers in organizations. Using fsQCA analysis, the paper examines how the use of such technologies affects the workers concerned and how they assess the legitimacy of the technologies used. It shows that workers with a competitive character judge the algorithmic technologies used much more positively than workers with low competitive traits. This also shows that different groups within a workforce have significantly different requirements for algorithm-based management systems and that there can be no “one-size-fits-all” solution when applying such systems in practice.
In addition to the exciting paper sessions, the conference also offered numerous opportunities to exchange ideas with old and new contacts from the research community.
