Research topics
Current research topics that we are working on are questions relating to the digital transformation in vocational education and training contexts, which is being driven by developments in the field of artificial intelligence.
For example, we are looking at the question of which AI-related competences vocational training personnel need and to what extent these competence facets are developed. So far, we have primarily focussed on school education personnel. In the future, we also want to look at the specific needs and challenges in in-company initial and continuing vocational training. These studies are important because it is only on the basis of these findings that we will be able to develop (further) training programmes that are tailored to the needs of the target group.
In this context, we are also interested in questions relating to the acceptance of AI-supported systems and what measures can be used to promote this.
Our research focuses on changes in vocational education and training that are either caused by digitalisation or made possible by it.
One example is the use of video vignettes, which confront students with challenging situations in their future professional practice while they are still studying. This allows them to be sensitised to these challenges and develop initial strategies for overcoming them in a protected environment.
