Localization and energy efficiency in sensor networks

In a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) the nodes are limited in terms of energy consumption, memory capacity, processing power, etc. Therefore the design of algorithms for such networks is a challenging issue. In WSNs the position of the node can be used by geographic routing algorithms, clustering techniques, and several context-based applications, like navigation system, security, etc. At the Chair of Telecommunications the research work is focussed on the optimization and the development of localization algorithms and its applications, trying to find the optimal trade-off between energy consumption and position accuracy.
