Postdoc
Dr. Ing. Farzin Akbar is a postdoctoral researcher at BCUBE, TU Dresden, focusing on the development of artificial cilia and studying its interaction with biological cilia. He completed his PhD at the Leibniz IFW Dresden, where his research concentrated on autonomous, self-sufficient electromechanical systems. His expertise spans across soft electronics and sensorics, with a strong foundation in designing and implementing advanced, responsive electromechanical platforms. His work aims to bridge the gap between synthetic and biological systems, bringing innovative insights into biomedical applications.

PhD Candidates
Pallavi Jha is a PhD student at the Leibniz IFW Dresden, working on a bioanalytical platform for assessing the quality of gametes to improve the efficiency of in vitro fertilization. She was part of the Erasmus Mundus Masters in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in collaboration with KU Leuven and TU Dresden. Her research experience includes working on projects at the interface of materials science, nanotechnology and biomedical applications.
David Castellanos-Robles is a PhD student at the Leibniz IFW in Dresden, working on biomedical microrobots, microfluidics, micro/nano fabrication processes and synthesis of smart materials. He holds a Master's degree in Advanced Functional Materials and a Bachelor's degree in Nanotechnology and has worked as a student assistant on research projects in photonics, smart materials and micro/nanomachines.
