Title: "Molecular mechanisms of vesicle filling, docking and fusion in excitable cells"

Abstract: Vesicle filling, docking and fusion constitute essential steps in neuronal signaling. For reliable signal propagation, these steps have to be tightly orchestrated and even small imbalances can cause detrimental pathogenic conditions. Despite the progress in our understanding of these processes key questions remain unresolved. Recently, we have unraveled the mechanisms of  their critical players namely the vesicular glutamate transporter, synaptophysin and the specialized Ca2+-sensor family of ferlins.
