Prof. Simon Alberti Becomes New BIOTEC Director
Prof. Simon Alberti takes on the role of new director of the Biotechnology Center (BIOTEC) of the TU Dresden. He succeeds Prof. Michael Schroeder who has managed the institute since 2018. Prof. Alberti will be supported by the new deputy director - Prof. Henrik Bringmann.
Prof. Simon Alberti is Chair for Cellular Biochemistry at the TU Dresden and a research group leader at BIOTEC since 2018. The research in his group focuses on how cells adapt to stress by changing the structure and organization of their cytoplasm. The team is particularly interested in the formation and role of molecular condensates, so called membraneless compartments, in stress adaptation, survival, and disease.
“It’s a pleasure to take over the institute from Michael Schroeder,” says Prof. Alberti. “I am looking forward to the next years of BIOTEC development and I’m happy to have the support of Henrik Bringmann as the new deputy director.”
