HOW to apply
Please note that there is a different procedure for graduates from non-German institutions of higher education and graduates from German institutions of higher education.
APPLICATION PERIOD: 1 April - 31 May
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
1. Are you a (prospective) graduate from a non-German institution of higher education?
Then, you need to complete two steps for your application:
1. You need to apply online in our CMCB databank (from 1 April to 31 May)
The following documents for decision on their qualification for the program:
- Photocopy of the first university degree certificate(s) in German or as well as a certified translation of the applicant’s university degree certificate(s) in German or English, if applicable;
- Photocopy of the certificate demonstrating the student's proficiency in English. The proficiency is shown with a relevant degree or language certificate. It can be: a) Diploma of the secondary school with an advanced English course, b) Diploma of the secondary school fully completed in English, c) Diploma of a university-degree fully completed in English or d) English certificate like TOEFL IBT (min. 92), IELTS (min. 6.5) and comparable certificates. Applicants whose mother tongue is English are exempt from this obligation to provide proof.
- Two letters of recommendation, preferably issued by university teachers, in German or English,
- Photocopies of other certificates proving e.g. supplementary qualifications, extra-curricular achievements and activities and professional experience which will give information on the student's special aptitude .
2. In addition, you need to apply through "uni-assist", a service organization supporting the TU Dresden with processing application documents from international applicants. They will check the completeness of your file and validity of your certificates. Without it, applications cannot be considered.

Payment of a fee to uni-assist is required. Please note that your application will only be processed after uni-assist has received your payment.
Please note that Chinese, Vietnamese and Indian applicants need to provide the APS (Akademische Prüfstelle) Academic Evaluation Centre at the German Embassy
2. Are you a (prospected) graduate from a German institution of higher education?
Then, you need to complete two steps for your application:
1. You need to apply online in our databank (from 1 April to 31 May).

2. You need to send us the following documents by post:
- certified copies of your university degree certificate(s) and certified English or German translations (if the documents have not been issued in one of these languages)
If you have not received your degree certificate yet, please enclose a certified copy of your latest transcripts as well as a certificate from your university about the achievement of at least 80% of the credits necessary for graduation, the expected overall average grade and your expected graduation date.

- certified copy of your higher education entrance qualification/school leaving certificate (Abitur) including list of grades
- CV in English
- motivation letter in English
- two letters of recommendation from professors of your college or university qualified to evaluate your academic achievements and your potential for graduate study
- proof of your English proficiency
Please do not send original documents, certified copies are acceptable at the time of application. However, please note that we do have to see the originals upon your arrival when you register at the TUD.
