Dual career in sports
The achievement of top sporting performances requires an extraordinarily high expenditure of time on the part of the active participants. Competitive sport is practiced in a phase of life in which the foundations for a later professional career are laid at the same time. A cooperation agreement with the Olympic Training Center in Saxony is intended to create not only compensation for disadvantages, but also reliable structures for studying top athletes, so that they can successfully complete their academic training at the TU Dresden despite the high time demands of top-class sport.
As a partner university of top-class sport, the TU Dresden sees itself as responsible towards the students to design the study and framework conditions in the public interest in such a way that top-class sporting engagement can be reconciled with an academic education.
