Animal Research Commission
The Animal Research Commission is an internal committee at TU Dresden which supports the Animal Protection Officers in evaluating animal use applications. The commission has at least 15 members representing various disciplines at TU Dresden who have experience in animal research, e.g. from medical fields such as surgery or pharmacology as well as biology or mathematics (statistical planning of animal research). The commission convenes on a regular basis and at least twice a year to discuss newly submitted animal research projects.
Animal Welfare Committee
The Animal Welfare Committee is a statutory committee. Its composition and tasks are defined by § 6 of the Act for the Protection of Animals Used for Research Purposes. The Animal Welfare Committee is comprised of individuals who are responsible for the keeping and care of research animals, as well as individuals who carry out animal research. The committee focuses on animal welfare, reviewing operations and facilities to make improvements where necessary.
