2nd RESEARCH SERVICES DAY: Our support service for your projects
The information event held by the Office of the Vice-Rector for Research, Directorate 5 Research Promotion and Transfer, and the Project Scouts
Date: 22 FEBRUARY 2016, 12:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Location: Andreas-Pfitzmann-Bau, Nöthnitzer Str. 46
This year’s Day of Research Services will open with the talk “Einwerbung von Drittmitteln – Pflicht und Kür” (Acquiring Third-Party Funding – obligations and options) by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr.-Ing. Manfred Curbach h.c.. In his talk Prof. Curbach will share his extensive knowledge regarding aspects of funding in basic and industrial research.
This will be followed by subject-specific workshops, introducing our research supporting services.
- From idea to proposal outline: lessons learned in assisting with proposals.
Contents: What questions do I need to be able to answer concerning planning and structuring a project idea? Which funding Institution or funding program is suitable for my project? Who could the reviewer be and how can I write successful proposal that is compact and convincing? Who can support me with the various parts of the proposal?)
- How do I apply for third-party funding: public third-party-funded projects and research contracts?
Contents: Participants will be given an overview of the relevant documents for applying for a public funded project (e.g. BMBF), including information about the contents of these documents and the specific sequence in which to submit them for a project proposal. They will also receive information about internal TUD procedures for realising a privately funded project (e.g. contract research) in the phase before the start of the project, as well as about details that need to be considered, such as calculating the costs and designing the contract.
- What funding does the EU offer and how does it do this?
Contents: What funding programmes and funding mechanisms does the EU have at hand and what are the goals pursued in the programmes? Participants will be given an idea of the opportunities provided by EU-funded projects.
- From invention to patent.
Contents: How does a patent originate and what rights and obligations are associated with it? How can a patent be used for industrial collaborations or for starting up your own company? What is the role of property rights in research projects?
In each of the workshops, you will be given the opportunity to ask questions and to discuss these with the other participants. In order to ensure this works successfully, enrolment for the workshops is necessary.
Please register by 10th of FEBRUARY 2016.
We look forward to welcoming you.
Sincerely yours,
Research Service Team at TU Dresden
