ERC Synergy Grants 2025 - Call open

The ERC ("European Research Council") has opened the call for Synergy Grants 2025.

The grants are aimed at a group of two to a maximum of four Principal Investigators (PIs) of any nationality and Department, working together and contributing their different skills and resources to solve research problems that are so ambitious that they cannot be tackled by one team alone.

ERC Synergy Grants do not have specific eligibility criteria regarding the academic training of the researchers involved. PIs must have a research track record that meets the ERC criteria for their respective career stage. The applications themselves are evaluated exclusively on the basis of the "scientific excellence" criterion, which in the case of these grants also includes the outstanding intrinsic synergy effects of the collaboration of the entire team.

The budget can be up to €10 million for a period of 6 years (pro rata for projects with a shorter duration). In exceptional cases, an additional € 4 million can be applied for.

Deadline for submission is November 6, 2024, 17:00 (Brussels time).
