Kick-off VALEU-X – Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Albania
On 24 FEB '20 and 25 FEB '20 a first meeting of all partners in the VALEU-X project (Virtual Albanian European Universities Exchange) took place. Besides TU Dresden the ISSBS from Slovenia and UNIMED from Italy together with 6 Albanian partner universities form the consortium.
Besides TU Dresden (Project leader: Prof. Dr. rer. pol. habil. Eric Schoop; Chair of Business Informatics, esp Information Management) the ISSBS from Slovenia and UNIMED from Italy together with 6 Albanian partner universities form the consortium.
At the kick-off event of the 2-year Erasmus+ project, the course for the capacity building programme of the European Commission was set. After the identification of the state-of-the-art of virtual mobility in Albania, the successful VCL [Virtual Collaborative Learning] model will be used to strengthen academic mobility. Finally, the creation of didactic design patterns should preserve the acquired knowledge and make it usable for further partners, without these being experts in the field of e-learning. Therefore several virtual and physical workshops, job shadowing, e-tutor qualifications and further activities with the partners are planned.
In addition, the project will be accompanied by professional public relations and quality assurance tools, which will be managed by the European partners UNIMED and ISSBS.
The partner universities are listed under the following links
- European University of Tirana
- Turgut Ozal Education SHA- Epoka University
- University Fan S. Noli
- Aleksandër Moisiu University of Durrës
- “Luigj Gurakuqi” University of Shkodra

- UNIMED

Further information on the project will be made available in the near future at https://valeu-x.eu/.
Alongside the project VALEU-X six more Erasmus+ projects started at TU Dresden within the past months. In September 2019, three „Strategic partnership“ projects started their work, one of them with TU Dresden as the coordinating institution:
- „The Third Way: Development of a new curriculum that supports and promotes Social Enterprise as a destination of choice for European graduates of Business and Enterprise programmes“; project leader Prof. Dr. Thomas Köhler; TUD as coordinating institution,
- „STEAM Innovation and Curriculum“; project leader Prof. Dr. Daniel Lordick; TUD as partner institution,
- „Integrated education based on sustainable urban mobility projects“; project leader Prof. Dr. Regine Gerike and Prof. Dr. Udo Becker; TUD as partner institution.
In January 2020, two new projects in the Erasmus+ funding line Capacity Building in Higher Education started:
- „Latin-American Alliance for Capacity buildING in Advanced Physics“; project leader Prof. Dr. Michael Kobel,
- „HE and VET alliance establishment according to Bologna Principals implementation via VET teacher’s capacity building“; project leader Gerard P. Cullen.
For the first time, TU Dresden acts as a partner in an Erasmus+ Knowledge Alliance project:
- „CT in Textile and Clothing Higher Education and Business“; project leader Prof. Dr. Yordan Kyosev.
Currently, the last call within the Erasmus+ programme is open for submissions. At the beginning of February 2020 TU Dresden already submitted 25 applications in the field of Capacity Building in Higher Education, nine with TU Dresden as the coordinating institution. At the moment TUD is preparing the submission of proposals for the March deadline in the field „Strategic partnerships“.
The Erasmus+ team of the European Project Center will hopefully be able to give more information on the new Erasmus+ funding era (2021-2028) within the second half of the year 2020.
