Smart Service World II – New applications for digital services and platforms
Aim of the 'Smart Service Welt II' technology competition (Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy) is to promote out-standing pilot projects that develop new applications for digital services and platforms.
Projects will be supported that address the fields of mobility, living, provision with basic supplies and/or employment that…
- Lead to the development of new business fields and development perspectives for small and medium-sized enterprises
- Develop highly qualitative, innovative and service based products and services
- Reach high degree of acceptance amongst the users due to their user-friendliness, consideration of data privacy and easy access
A technology competition will be held to select the project proposals. This is divided into the following six phases:
- Phase 1 (04.11.2016 – 09.02.2017): Compile and submit project outlines
- Phase 2 (10.02. – 31.03.2017): Assess and select the best outlines for funding with the participation of an independent jury
- Phase 3 (03.04.2017 – 05.05.2017): Workshops to identify synergies between the competition winners, applicant advisory, application
- Phase 4 (24.04.2017 – 31.07.2017): application
- Phase 5 (01.08.2017 – 29.03.2018): assess and approval of applications
- Phase 6 (01.10.2017 – 01.04.2018): beginning of project execution after examination of applications received
- five partners maximum, the lead of the consortium shall be executed by an industrial enterprise (additional subcontracts are possible)
- the total funding for pilot projects with a maximum duration of three years in the years 2018-2021 totals ca. 50 Mio € (subject to confirmation)

Four areas will be evaluated (every area counts 25%):
- Idea
- Feasibility
- Consortium
- market- and application potential
