TU researchers present fibre-based biomedical technology at MEDICA
One such area is the research on focus textile-based biomedical technology. At the Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology, a scientist team headed by Dr Dilbar Aibibu was successful in combining the experience and the skills of biologists, chemists and engineers to basic research and application-appropriate technical solutions. To this end, the Dresden experts place special emphasis on the development and manufacturing of implants and cell supporting structures made of biobased and biocompatible materials. Examples of these are: Biodegradable polymers, bioactive ceramics or bioinert metals. The interdisciplinary research group HeLiCT of the TU Dresden Chair of Business Informatics is also present at the Düsseldorf trade fair floor. Dr Hannes Schlieter and his work group are concerned with the design and optimisation of clinical processes and their information system support.
Also the Institute of Biomedical Engineering shows interesting trade fair offers: Dr Ute Morgenstern and her fellow campaigners present, among others, hard- and software phantoms for experiments in the engineering training, clinical training or for biomedical-technical research.
