First Saxon-Czech Innovation Day 2015

Prague: On 29 October 2015 the first Saxon-Czech Innovation Day took place in the liaison office of the Free State of Saxony. More than 50 representatives of Saxon and Czech universities came together. The guests also included the Saxon Minister of State for Science and Art, Dr. Eva-Maria Stange, and the Czech Deputy Prime Minister for Science, Research and Innovation, MVDr. Pavel Bělobrádek. The presentations focused on the topics of knowledge and technology transfer, research promotion and the possibilities of cross-border scientific cooperation.

Second Saxon-Czech Innovation Day 2016

Prague: On 9 September 2016, high-ranking representatives from science, politics and business met for the second Saxon-Czech Innovation Day. Among the participants were the Saxon Minister of State for Science and the Arts, Dr. Eva-Maria Stange, MVDr. Pavel Bělobrádek, Vice Premier for Science, Research and Innovation of the Czech Republic, Christiana Markert, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany and Prof. Dr. Gerhard Rödel, Vice Rector Research at the TU Dresden. The meeting focused on 12 specialist contributions on the subject of materials and raw materials research. Minister of State Stange highlighted the close cross-border activities between Saxony and the Czech Republic and called for a further intensification of existing cooperation in science, technology transfer and industry.

Third Saxon-Czech Innovation Day 2017

Prague: On 1 December 2017, the Saxon-Czech Innovation Day took place for the third time. Under the motto "Biomedicine & Bioengineering", 50 representatives from science and industry from the Czech Republic and the Free State of Saxony met to discuss further shaping and deepening the innovation process with a cross-border perspective and to establish contacts.

Among the guests were the ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Christoph Israng as well as representatives of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Dr. Zedenek Havlas and the Saxon State Ministry of Science and Art, Jörg Geiger. Prof. Gerd Kempermann, speaker of the Centre for Neurodegenerative Diseases in Dresden, provided an overview of current research in the field of biomedicine.

The Innovation Day 2017 was jointly organized by the Liaison Office of the Free State of Saxony in Prague and the Transfer Office of the Technical University of Dresden.

Fourth Saxon-Czech Innovation Day 2018

Prague: On 15 November 2018, the fourth Saxon-Czech Innovation Day took place in the historic premises of the German Embassy in Prague and was dedicated to the topics of automated driving and e-mobility. Representatives from science and industry from the Czech Republic, the Free State of Saxony and the Free State of Bavaria gave numerous presentations on the future of the automotive industry, the use of artificial intelligence and the ethical aspects of autonomous driving. The Innovation Day was opened by the German Ambassador Dr. Christoph Israng and the Saxon Minister of State for Science and Culture Dr. Eva-Maria Stange. Mrs. Stange emphasized the role of the research institutions in Saxony, in particular the development of 5G technology as an important prerequisite for autonomous driving, which was largely supported by the TU Dresden under the leadership of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr. h.c. Frank Fitzek and was introduced by him in a subsequent presentation. One of the goals of the Innovation Day is to further intensify cross-border cooperation between Saxony, the Czech Republic and Bavaria in research and development in the future. This year's Innovation Day was organised by the Liaison Office of the Free State of Saxony, the German Embassy in Prague and the Representative Office of the Free State of Bavaria in the Czech Republic.  The TU Dresden also supported the event format with lectures and workshops on this fourth Innovation Day.
