Saxon-Czech Innovation Day in Prague
On the topic of biomedicine and bioengineering, Czech and Saxon representatives from science and industry will be meeting for lectures and discussions with a cross-border perspective on the further organisation and specialisation of innovation endeavours.
From the Czech side, the highlights of biomedical research will be introduced by the Academy of Sciences. The Czech Center of Excellence BIOCEV will present its work in the field of biomedicine, cell biology and biomaterials. From the German side, Dr Lars Renner from the Max Bergmann Center for Biomaterials will introduce the planned Bioengineering Cluster of Excellence at TU Dresden. In both border regions, research results have been used to establish biomedical / bioengineering start-ups, which will present themselves as examples of best-practice in action. In addition, the new Czech-German research alliance ARIB will present plans for the intended establishment of a cross-border Center of Excellence for biomedical research. Prof. Ivan Baines from the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden will give insight into this joint Cluster of Excellence financed with EU funds.
The aim of the event is to intensify transnational cooperation between Saxony and the Czech Republic in the areas of research and development, to enhance knowledge and technology transfer in the Czech Republic and Saxony, and to initiate research collaborations. Participants will therefore be given the opportunity to exchange ideas about European research funding, share their experiences and find partners for possible cross-border joint projects in the framework of an interactive workshop in the afternoon of the first of December. Service facilities from the Czech Republic and Saxony are going to participate in this workshop.
This annual Innovation Day of the Liaison Office of the Free State of Saxony in Prague is organised together with the TU Dresden Transfer Office, which is supported by Czech public institutions from the areas of research and science.
