Transfer Project of the Month: Silicone Prostheses Produced by Additive Manufacturing
The high-quality, customised prostheses from stamos + braun consist of medical grade silicone and are produced in a very complex crafting process, i.e. in such a way that the artificial parts can hardly be distinguished from the original. Due to their high quality, they are attracting great interest from patients. The Group for Electromechanical Design at the TU Dresden Institute of Electromechanical and Electronic Design has spent quite some time working on new device-related solutions for additive technologies that can be used for special applications. The equipment and experience resulting from this formed the basis for a cooperation aimed at accelerating the complex and costly process of manufacturing prosthesis parts or entire prostheses.

Transfer projects from companies and scientific institutions that are conducting research in the Dresden area have been published in the bulletin for over 25 years. The editors’ goal is to repeatedly publicise excellent research findings regarding both applications and developments on the path to a practical application.
By publishing innovative research and development results, editors of the Dresden Transfer Bulletin (TU Dresden, TechnologieZentrumDresden GmbH, GWT-TUD GmbH and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Dresden) hope to contribute to successful utilisation of these technologies.
