Doctoral supervision? Excellent!
The Graduate Academy granted its Award for Excellence in Doctoral Supervision for the 6th time. The TU Dresden is thus one of the first universities in Germany to establish such an award.
The response from or doctoral candidates and postdocs was as enthusiastic as in last years. Thirty-eight designations were submitted, including numerous recurring nominations.
The number of nominations, as well as the inspiring laudations of the doctoral students and postdocs, show that the supervision of doctoral students is already excellent at the
TU Dresden.
Doctoral candidate survey, 2021
A recent survey confirms this. In spring 2021, TU Dresden participated for the first time in the National Academics Panel Study (Nacaps) - a longitudinal study of doctoral candidates and doctorate holders.
The results speak for themselves: A good 70 percent of the doctoral candidates surveyed expressed (great) satisfaction with the main supervision relationship. The level of satisfaction with supervision among doctoral candidates at the TU Dresden is thus higher than the national average.

We congratulate Professor Garthus-Niegel very sincerely on this year's award. She has already been nominated several times for exceptional supervision of doctoral candidates.

GA Super Supervisor
The Graduate Academy has been offering regular workshops
on the topic of “Good Doctoral Supervision” since 2016.
The workshop is aimed at professors of all disciplines responsible for the supervision of doctoral students or those who aspire to do so.
