Super Supervisor 2026 | Professor Lars Hornuf
Doctoral Supervision? Excellent!
To raise awareness of the importance of effective supervision for our doctoral candidates, the Graduate Academy (GA) has been presenting the Award for Outstanding Doctoral Supervision since 2017. This makes the TUD Dresden University of Technology one of the first universities in Germany to establish such an award.
The response from doctoral candidates and postdocs was once again high this year, with 52 nominations. The number of nominations and the appreciative laudatory speeches show that excellent work is being done at TU Dresden in supervising our early-career researchers.
Super Supervisor 2026
This year, Professor Lars Hornuf | Faculty of Economics, is receiving the award for outstanding doctoral supervision. Prof. Hornuf has been nominated for this award several times in recent years.
We congratulate Professor Hornuf on this well-deserved award!
Excerpts from the Laudationes (translated):
“My advisor combines academic brilliance with exceptional humanity. He encourages, challenges, and inspires all at once. His dedication went far beyond the call of duty—whether through spontaneous weekend discussions, precise feedback, or his ability to offer encouragement during difficult times. He is not only an excellent scholar but also a true mentor who absolutely deserves this award. Especially when compared to peers at other universities, his coaching, his input regarding conference participation, and his networking with other researchers are unparalleled.”
“He shows extraordinary dedication to all his doctoral students, not just me. Even after I completed my doctorate, he continues to guide me with advice and support. His passion for research, his respect for students, and his ability to recognize and nurture potential make him a model mentor. Without him, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
