Giuseppe Squillace (November 2022 to January 2023)

Giuseppe Squillace
Giuseppe Squillace is a classical scholar in the field of Greek history at the University of Calabria, where he teaches Greek epigraphy and the history of Magna Graecia. The first time he was in Dresden was for several months from 2009 to 2011 as part of a fellowship for experienced researchers from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Prof. Dr. Martin Jehne. Now he is back in Dresden for the second time for three months as part of an AvH returning scholarship, now as a guest of Prof. Dr. Christoph Lundgreen. Giuseppe Squillace has been researching Philip II and Alexander the Great and, as a Humboldt Fellow, is working on the topic "The Perfumer's shop in the ancient Greek world". - and will be discussing this with us intensively over the next few months. Douglas Cairns (October 2022-December 2022)
Prof. Dr. Douglas Cairns(Edinburgh) received the Anneliese Maier Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in 2017 for his groundbreaking contributions to ancient emotion research and is using the prize money of 250,000 euros for a five-year cooperation with the Institute of Classical Philology and Classical Studies at TU Dresden, which includes the organization of joint workshops and the awarding of research fellowships - and brings him to Dresden to work with us again and again.
