Expert commission in accordance with the Nursing Professions Act
Expert commission under the Nursing Professions Act hands over its framework curricula and framework training plans to the BMG and BMFSFJ
The Expert Commission under the Nursing Professions Act today handed over the framework curricula and framework training plans it has drawn up for the new nursing training courses to the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) and the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) on time. Nursing schools and the providers of practical training will thus soon receive concrete proposals for the design of the new training courses.
Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn: "Good nursing care requires good specialist knowledge. That is why we have comprehensively modernized nursing training. In just over six months, the first class will be taught according to the new requirements. The framework plans submitted on time are the basis for filling the new, uniform nationwide training regulations with life in terms of content."
Federal Minister for Family Affairs Dr. Franziska Giffey: "For the first time, there are nationwide framework plans for training in the care sector. This is an important step towards successfully implementing the reform of the nursing profession. The framework plans help the nursing schools and providers of practical training to structure the training content. And that is good for quality. I would like to thank the members of the expert commission very much - they developed the framework plans within a very short time and with a high level of personal commitment."
Background information:
The BMG and BMFSFJ appointed the honorary members of the expert commission on November 21, 2018 for a term of office of five years. The expert commission has the statutory task of developing framework curricula and framework training plans (framework plans) for the new nursing training courses that will begin on January 1, 2020. The framework plans contain specific proposals for the content of the new vocational nursing training courses. They will be made available free of charge to the nursing schools and the providers of practical training. As an orientation aid for the implementation of training in accordance with the Nursing Professions Act and the Nursing Professions Training and Examination Ordinance, they have a recommendatory effect on the curricula of the federal states and the internal curricula of the nursing schools.
According to the Nursing Professions Act, the framework plans must be submitted to both ministries for the first time by July 1, 2019 to check their compatibility with the Nursing Professions Act. After today's handover, they will be reviewed accordingly in order to be made available to the relevant stakeholders quickly afterwards.
The members of the expert commission are proven nursing experts with practical experience. They were selected in consultation with the federal states on the basis of numerous proposals from the federal states and professional associations. Practitioners, academics and people with experience in curriculum development are represented. The composition reflects the different care areas of geriatric nursing, healthcare and nursing and healthcare and paediatric nursing.
The Federal Ministry of Health, the Federal Ministry for Families, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and the Federal Government Plenipotentiary for Nursing as well as one representative each from the Conference of Ministers of Labor and Social Affairs, the Conference of Ministers of Health and the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs can participate in the meetings in an advisory capacity.
