Long night of Primary Education Research Lab
The Primary Education Research Lab serves as an annual venue for the Dresden Science Night.
On June 21, 2019, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Primary School Working Group opened the doors to the Long night of Primary Education Research Lab at the Institute of Education. Following on from the lecture series "100 years of elementary school in Germany - A school for all?", guests of all ages were welcome to explore, discover and create historical and current information about elementary school at various stations.
With the support of students and Student Assistants, the staff of the Chair of Primary Education/ German Education created activities around the theme of 'School in Picture Books', including staged readings of selected picture books, a book trolley inviting visitors to browse through their own books and the opportunity to create their own thoughts, ideas and wishes on the subject of school, inspired by elements from various picture books.
The Primary Education Research Lab of the Faculty of Education opened its doors for the Dresden Science Night on June 15, 2018. A total of 60 visitors of all ages visited the Primary Education Research Lab rooms in the Weberbau building (WEB 43 and 47) between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. to be inspired by the educational science workshops on the topic of sound, noises and sound. You could experiment, produce and browse.
In addition, the sonorously staged picture book cinema of the first reading book Besuch beim Hasen by Katja Gehrmann and Christian Oster (2013, Moritz Verlag), which was nominated for the German Youth Literature Prize, attracted many viewers to the LuFo once every hour. Here they could hear and see who rang the rabbit out of bed 13 minutes after midnight. Ringing, banging, ringing, clanging, stomping and clapping accompanied the reading and surprised the audience.
In another room, it was possible to record your own voice via a microphone. This resulted in unique recordings of poems, songs and jokes, which the participating children and adults could take home with them as a souvenir.
Light and shadows have fascinated children and adults since the earth has traveled around the sun. In the Primary Education Research Lab on June 16, 2017 from 19:00-23:00, you can expect many different opportunities to experiment with light and shadow, immerse yourself in shadow theater stories through play and get to know your own shadow better.
