Between 2005 and 2010, Prof. Schorcht studied teacher training for Mathematics, German and History at the University of Siegen and Dortmund University for elementary schools (Grundschule), middle schools (Hauptschule) and vocational schools (Realschule). From 2010 to 2015, he conducted research and taught at the University of Giessen, focusing on textbook research, the history of mathematics in the classroom, and the promotion of mathematically gifted students in mathematical problem solving. Since 2012, he has also offered courses to school pupils who particularly enjoy mathematical problem-solving.
From 2015 to 2017, Prof. Schorcht worked as a teacher at the Grundschule Kopernikusstraße school in Cologne before becoming a lecturer at the University of Giessen. Between 2020 and 2021, he was acting Chair of Mathematics and its Didactics at Saarland University. He has held the Chair of Primary Education/ Mathematical Education at TUD Dresden University of Technology since 2022.
