New denomination of Chair

The Chair of Media Education will become the Chair of Media Education at TU Dresden. The Chair has had this new denomination since January 1, 2026, when Prof. Dr. Andreas Spengler took up his post, sharing the leadership of the Chair with the deputy professor Dr. Nadine Schaarschmidt until the end of March.

Under its new name, the Chair will remain responsible for media education content and media education research in the educational sciences. With its new denomination, however, it makes clearer the reference to media education professionalization and its structural integration into teacher training at TU Dresden (school education). The focus in the designation (media education) refers accordingly to its content orientation, in the context of which media education is emphasized more strongly as the theory, practice and goal of media education.
