From master craftsman or technician to teacher
Tobias is in his sixth semester of studying SchulAQ at TU Dresden and works as a school assistant at a vocational school center in Leipzig.
- A good opportunity
"There is also the opportunity for those who want to become a teacher as a master craftsman or technician - for example, to make another change of industry without having to completely sacrifice their salary, as the teaching degree course is dual."
- Full of variety
"My attendance days at school are always Wednesday and Friday, when I travel to Leipzig and the rest of the time I study here at home. Before that, when I was studying in person, I got up relatively early. You tried to arrange your timetable so that you could fit most of the modules into these three days."
- Demanding
"Especially in the first semester, you think you have to tear the world apart, but when you get more into the learning itself, you also take a more relaxed approach. At first it was very overloaded, sometimes you had to plan your days from 7.30 a.m. to 6.10 p.m., but in the meantime it has become more relaxed."
- Diverse
"Working at the school gives you the opportunity to come into contact with lots of teachers, integrate into the team and get to know the structure of the subject. I think it's a good way to grow."
- The school internships of the degree course take place in the project schools, often with teachers whose lessons have already been observed before.
"This allows you to build up a bond with the teachers, which is very different to coming to a completely new school after your studies."
"And of course one lesson goes better than the next. When you get a lot of praise, you can look forward to it all afternoon."
"In general, of course, I'm looking forward to teaching and making progress, reflecting on everything that has happened and making adjustments."
- Studying is also feasible with a family
"Of course, it depends on which phase of your studies you're in - the exam phase is very difficult, you have to give it your all and you're happy if you get a bit of time off. But at the beginning of the semester and during the vacations, it's extremely easy to combine studying and family life."
- Study groups help you to cope with the tasks
"The exams in the first semester were quite difficult. Mathematics at university is seen more as a language - it took a lot of time to be able to read this language and understand the meaning behind it."
- The SchulAQ study option is remunerated at E6
"The salary does not replace the previous income, but it is a good middle ground."
