Benjamin Ullrich is the contact person for the TechLA+ study option. In the following interview, he answers a few questions about the study option.
The study option enables students to enter the teaching profession without prior professional experience or training. It also opens up the possibility of completing a one-year apprenticeship with a HWK or IHK qualification as part of the course.
Professional experience is an important expertise for teachers of technical departments. This is also a prerequisite for registering for the first state examination at the end of the course. The TechLA+ study option offers first-year students who wish to begin a degree course in the commercial-technical subjects of Teacher Training - Vocational Schools directly after completing their A-levels the opportunity to integrate vocational training into their studies. Twelve months of training in a company are completed with a skilled worker examination. The standard period of study is automatically extended by one year.
A university entrance qualification (HZB) is a prerequisite for admission to the "Teacher Training - Vocational Schools" course. Furthermore, you should be interested in the technical teaching profession, especially in your chosen Department, and have a desire to gain practical experience. A prerequisite for the TechLA+ study option is enrolment in certain industrial-technical departments of the degree program "Teacher Training - Vocational Schools".
The TechLA+ study option includes an internship year with an optional degree as a skilled worker and an extended standard period of study of two semesters. In the traditional degree course, professional experience must be proven by a qualification as a skilled worker or a self-organized twelve-month relevant internship.
