Open letter - Parents ask: What's next for the Dresden University School trial?
The Dresden University School is a real laboratory for the school of the future. Data-supported school development is carried out here. Educational researchers from TU Dresden will be accompanying the school community for 15 years.
Funding for the accompanying research has not been secured since the beginning of 2026. In an open letter to the Saxon Minister President, the Saxon Ministry of Culture and the Saxon Ministry of Science as well as TU Dresden, the parents' representatives of the University Community School are now asking: What's next for the Dresden University School trial? The reasons and the letter itself can be found on the school website.
Since the school was founded in 2019, educational researchers have been collecting and evaluating data as part of the school trial, including the annual learning assessments using standardized tests (DEMAT, HSP and ELFE) at the Dresden University School and comparative schools in Dresden, as well as surveys of students, parents and teachers. The University School ForUS research center was founded for this purpose in 2022.
From January, the scientific and communication support for the transfer project ALSO - Alternatives Lehramtspraktikum will continue to be funded. The teaching internship for future teachers in training at TU Dresden, which was developed in collaboration with the University School, is now the focus of the staff at the ForUS Research Unit.
