"Monasteries in the High Middle Ages" Project of the Month by BMBF and Akademienpro­gramm

The Akademienprogramm is Germany's largest long-term research programme in the humanities and social sciences, consisting of 128 projects at 188 locations, and is unique worldwide. Every month, one of these projects is presented on the website of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). In December 2022, the project "Monasteries in the High Middle Ages. Laboratories of Innovation for European Designs of Life and Models of Order" will be presented.

The Saxon branch of the project is based at FOVOG and is investigating the contribution of monasteries in the redefinition of the relationship between transcendental orientation towards meaning and rational organisation in the field of tension between the relationship between the individual and the community.
