Odilo Engels' library at FOVOG
In October 2024, FOVOG Dresden, in cooperation with the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences, acquired the extensive private library of renowned historian Prof. Dr. Odilo Engels († 2012). With his work on Spanish and Rhenish history, dynastic Staufer research and the papacy, this important medievalist shaped German historical scholarship for decades.
His collection comprises more than 2,000 volumes – including monographs, anthologies, journals and series – and offers a unique insight into key areas of research in medieval history. With their inclusion in the FOVOG library, all titles can now be searched via the OPAC of the SLUB Dresden and are thus permanently accessible to the academic community and the interested public.
