Of Cistercian networks and monastery libraries
Insights into current research on St. Marienthal and Altzella
Researchers from Dresden and Leipzig give an insight into the current status of their work on the monastery library of St. Marienthal. In 2023, the Free State of Saxony was able to secure this historical book collection for the public. The book collection of St. Marienthal is closely linked to other Saxon monasteries. In the context of short presentations followed by an open panel discussion, the team will present initial discoveries, in particular about Altzella Abbey, the most important Cistercian monastery in Saxony.
A joint event of the Research Center for Comparative History of Religious Orders (FOVOG) at TU Dresden, the Saxon State and University Library Dresden (SLUB), Leipzig University Library (UBL) and the Catholic Academy.
