Dissertation project by Sarah Marie Neumann
Dissertation project, supervised by Prof.in Dr.in Birte Platow and Prof.in Dr.in Maria Häusl
Brief overview:
The dissertation project examines the sexual socialization of female and Christian socialized persons between the ages of 20 and35. Specific attention will be paid to the specifically Christian markers of the socialization environment and their impact on the individual sexual ethical attitudes of the interviewees, and it will also be examined whether and which biblical narratives about women and traditional Christian role requirements for female socialized persons are present in the identity concepts of the interviewees.
The findings from the qualitative work should ultimately form the empirical basis for the development of materials for sexual education in denominational places. The work follows on from findings from quantitative studies that indicate that women* from traditionally Christian environments growing up in adulthood consider their own sexuality to be less important. The work aims to provide theologically based explanations and also create practical theological intervention measures within the framework of sexuality-positive education.
