New Publication: Practices of Home (Supplement to the *Historische Zeitschrift*)

A new publication by our colleague Johannes Schütz, who, together with Henrik Schwanitz and Anna Strommenger, edited the HZ supplement“Practices of Home: Forms of Appropriation and Everyday Constructions of Home from a Historical Perspective.”

From a historical perspective, the volume examines how notions of “Heimat” were translated into practices and thus shaped everyday actions. Through this practice-theoretical approach, previous research findings on the concept of “Heimat” can be significantly expanded. To this end, “home” practices are analyzed in interaction with socially influential discourses and semantics of “home,” and are thus consistently historicized. The volume addresses both the theoretical and methodological challenges as well as the interdisciplinary possibilities of practice-historical research on “home.”
