Workshop: Call for Papers
Contingency and imagination are basic conditions of economic activity: anyone who invests, speculates or engages in entrepreneurial activity always acts under conditions of an open and uncertain outcome - and is dependent on shaping this imaginatively and translating it into action.
The workshop invites contributions that deal with the interplay of contingency, imagination and economic action in the early modern period (ca. 1500-1800). Proposals of around 300-400 words in length, together with a short CV, should be sent by e-mail to the following address: oliver.kruk@tu-dresden.de. Papers should address the research context, theoretical framework and source base. Presentations can be given in German and English; the workshop discussion will be held in English. Contributions from early career researchers (doctoral students and post-docs at an early stage) are particularly welcome.
Deadline: July 19, 2026
Location: Dresden
Date: March 3-5, 2027
