Professor

Prof. Dr. Dietmar Schanbacher was born in 1957 in Esslingen on Neckar. He studied jurisprudence in Tübingen and Freiburg i. Br. and did his PhD in 1985 at Tübingen University (supervisor: Prof. Dr. Hermann Lange). After his legal preparatory service he became an assistant professor for Prof. Dr. Ulrich Manthe at the chair for civil and Roman law in Passau. Here he qualified as an university lecturer for civil law, Roman law and modern history of privat law in July 1992. Since March 1993 Prof. Dr. Schanbacher holds the chair for civil law and Roman law at the Technische Universität Dresden. Topics like Roman private law and collateral law are his main foci of interest.
