Profile of the Chair

The Chair of Modern and Contemporary History and Didactics of History combines scientific and didactic research and teaching.
In the field of didactics, the focus is on teacher training, while in the field of science the focus is on modern cultural and social history, history of mentality, and political history. Didactic questions and research interests are addressed in the field of the history of history didactics, interdisciplinary teaching/learning research, and extracurricular historical culture. The focal areas of our scientific research are the history of education, school, and religion as well as of the bourgeoisie and the GDR.

We cooperate closely with the Dresdner Schulmuseum e.V., where students can also complete internships.
