Assignment of Reviewers for Theses
If you wish to write a thesis (state examination thesis, bachelor’s thesis, master’s thesis) in philosophy or ethics, you must secure two faculty members—one for the initial review and one for the second review—before officially registering with the Examination Office or LASUB. The person who writes the first review will also supervise the writing process. How do you find the two faculty members for the first and second reviews?
Starting in March 2025, students will no longer be required to find two faculty members themselves to serve as reviewers for their thesis (state examination thesis, bachelor’s thesis, master’s thesis) in philosophy/ethics. Instead, they simply send an email to , along with the short form linked below. The Institute of Philosophy will then assign the two reviewers.
We strongly encourage you to submit all requests for the summer semester by January 15 of the respective year and all requests for the winter semester by July 15. Late submissions may be considered, but adherence to the deadlines mentioned above is preferred. Further details are explained in the form.
