Legal research Centers
The aim of the research centers is to promote scientific work and at the same time to provide an internal forum for discussion. They are dedicated to innovative forms of events such as interdisciplinary seminars, workshops, simulation games, colloquia and disputations, which are integrated into academic studies. Research centers at the Institute of International Law, Intellectual Property Law and Technology Law have been established in the areas of international law, research and technology, new media and medical criminal law.
Research Center for International Legal and State Theory
The Research Center for International Law and State Theory is dedicated to fundamental questions of the concepts of law and the state, legal methodology, and the relations of German law to international law and European law, with the interdisciplinary inclusion of linguistics, philosophy, and political science.
United Nations Research Center
The various tasks of the United Nations Research Center include expanding UN Law as an independent field of research, intensifying the exchange between UN-research and practice, promoting the interdisciplinary connection of the various scientific approaches to the UN system, as well as expanding the knowledge regarding the IO, its challenges and its need for reform.
Research Center for Research Funding and Technology Transfer
Ever since its establishment in August 2009, the Research Center has been examining the legal frameworks that are decisive for the field of research and development as well as the field of technology transfer on the national and international plane.
Research Center for Medical Criminal Law
The main emphasis of research at the Research Center for Medical Criminal Law is set on the possible criminal liability of a physician in the context of curative treatments and the problématique of euthanasia in the broadest sense.
Research Center for Foundations and Foundation Law
One of the main emphases of research at the Research Center for Foundations and Foundation Law is set on ecclesiastical foundation law, including commentaries on constitutional and general legal basics as well as on the inner-ecclesiastical realization of foundation law.
