The Institute for Technology and Environmental Law
The founding of the Institute for Technology and Environmental Law at the Faculty of Law of the TUD Dresden University of Technology is based on decisions made by university management in 1992 and a decree issued by the Saxon State Ministry of Science and the Arts in May 1994. It is headed by Prof. Dr. Martin Schulte (holder of the Chair of Public Law with special consideration of Environmental and Technology Law at TU Dresden) as Managing Director and deals with issues of environmental, planning and technology law at national, supranational and international level. In addition, the ITUR has proven expertise in the field of public commercial law, i.e. economic promotion, control, monitoring and regulation, as well as data protection law. Analyses in these research areas generally have an interdisciplinary, application-oriented focus and very often include topics of constitutional and administrative law.
The ITUR's main concerns include promoting the exchange of experience between research and practice as well as interdisciplinary cooperation. The ITUR has already carried out a wide range of research projects in cooperation with research institutions from other disciplines. The members of the ITUR include not only academics but also experienced and recognized practitioners in various areas of law. The results of its extensive research activities have been published in numerous publications. Finally, the ITUR ensures the transfer of legal expertise into legal and specialist training within the framework of teaching.
