JUST PUBLISHED: Prof. Dr. Ajla Škrbić has authored a chapter on the implementation of the Istanbul Convention in Bosnia and Herzegovina
The chapter appears in the newly published volume The Istanbul Convention in Action: Case Studies from Selected States Parties, edited by W. Burek, K. Sękowska-Kozłowska and A. Zimmermann (Edward Elgar Publishing).
The volume examines the implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (“the Istanbul Convention”) in the context of ongoing debates on gender equality and compliance with human rights treaties in Europe. It offers a comparative analysis of diverse national case studies and addresses key issues such as domestic violence, femicide, rape and forced marriage, highlighting how the Convention has been integrated into legal and institutional frameworks across Europe.
Prof. Dr. Škrbić’s contribution focuses on the challenges and developments related to the implementation of the Istanbul Convention in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
