UNESCO first-hand insights
From October to December 2015, I conducted an internship at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris during which I actively participated in the work of this United Nations specialized agency’s efforts to protect and preserve world cultural heritage and cultural property. I worked in the sector for Cultural Property, which is responsible mainly for the safeguarding and promotion of cultural heritage as well as cultural property in the event of armed conflict. The team that I supported is specifically charged with the prevention and the prohibition of illicit trafficking of cultural goods. I also had the opportunity, however to get to know other departments within UNESCO as well as partner organizations responsible for the protection of cultural heritage.
