Institutskolloquium: Longitudinal Data Analysis Using Structural Equation Modeling
Im Rahmen des Kolloquiums des Instituts für Soziologie hält am Donnerstag, 5.12.2019 um 13.00 Uhr Herr Prof. Tenko Raykov (Michigan State University) einen Gastvortrag im Bürogebäude Falkenbrunnen, Raum 236 (PC Pool), Chemnitzer Str. 46a, 01187 Dresden, zum Thema:
Longitudinal Data Analysis Using Structural Equation Modeling
This 2-hour workshop commences with a brief, non-technical introduction to the structural equation modeling (SEM) methodology. Fundamental concepts like model identification and implied covariance matrix, as well as model fit and assessment, are initially discussed. Two main univariate models are then considered, the intercept-and-slope model and the level-and-shape model. Extensions of these models to the case of missing data, survey research, non-normality, and clustering effect are finally focused on. During the workshop, empirical data examples are used for illustration purposes, including a subset of the increasingly popular, nationally-representative longitudinal Health and Retirement Study in the USA. The highly popular latent variable modeling software Mplus is used throughout.
