Dr. Manès Weisskircher leads the BMBF-funded research group REXKLIMA (Far-right politics versus climate action?) at the Institute of Political Science, TU Dresden. Moreover, he is affiliated to the Center for Research on Extremism (C-REX), University of Oslo, and the Center for Civil Society Research, Berlin Social Science Center (WZB). He is associate editor of the Politische Vierteljahresschrift (German Political Science Quarterly) and member of the scientific advisory board of the Bruno Kreisky Forum for International Dialogue. Dr. Weisskircher studied in Vienna, London, and Florence, where he earned his doctorate from the European University Institute in 2019.
Dr. Weisskircher's research focuses on political parties, social movements, democracy, and the far right. His research has been published in journals such as the European Journal of Political Research, Party Politics, Political Studies, Government & Opposition, Social Movement Studies, Journal of Common Market Studies, German Politics, Environmental Values, Politics and Governance, Sociological Perspectives, etc. He is one of the authors of 'Gains and Losses: How Protestors Win and Lose' (Oxford University Press). He is editor of the volume "Contemporary Germany and the Fourth Wave of Far-Right Politics" (Routledge) and the Special Issue "New Contentious Politics. In the past Dr. Weisskircher taught at universities in Boon, Bucharest, Düsseldorf, Dresden and Vienna and at the social science college of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation.
