Marie Briese Attends the EABS Annual Conference in Leuven

Marie Briese attended the Annual Conference of the European Association of Biblical Studies ( EABS) in Leuven. As co-chair of the research unit “Bibles, Politicization, and Digital Cultures,” she presented a paper at the international conference.

Under the title “Deep Mediatized Christianity: A Theoretical Approach to Analyzing Intersections of Bible Use, Right-Wing Politics, and Social Media,” she presented a combination of Andreas Hepp’s figuration-analytical approach and Maria Hinsenkamp’s Kingdom-Minded Network Theory. The theoretical framework she developed is designed to analyze phenomena of digital religion and focuses on the interconnections between Bible use, right-wing political positions, and social media.
